The high concentration of heavy metals in Umm al-Huwaytat lagoon can be attributed to pollution resulting from different human activities.Concentration of heavy metals, which is measured in the foraminiferal species in the coastal lagoons, may serve as an indicator which helps mangers to identify anthropogenic impacts and assess the need for remediation measures.
