A stimulatory 15 mM glucose treatment increased the PKC zeta activity by 1.5 fold above that at zero glucose, and in the added presence of IGF1 the activity was further increased 10.4 fold. The addition of 0.4 mM palmitate/1% BSA enhanced IGF1induced PKC zeta activity in the presence of glucose by 15.3 fold above that at zero glucose, which was 47% higher than the level in equivalent INS1 cells incubated in the absence of FFA.
